Federal and State Guidance
Governor Wolf has extended our Stay At Home orders through May 8th. Additionally, at both the federal and local levels, a Re-Entry Plan based on phases has been created. While we do not have a specific timeline from the government yet, we will certainly abide by all recommendations of the CDC and the state and federal governments. Pennsylvania’s Re-Entry Plan is included at the end of this message.
Blackhawk Updates
We know that there are still many unknowns. We wanted to provide an update of where we are at Blackhawk. Please continue to check our website for our FAQ document, which will be released by May 1.
We are in the process of planning how we can honor our seniors this year with a Graduation Ceremony that complies with all social distancing orders. We are working with staff and students to ensure everyone can be celebrated for their hard work these past 12 years. The High School Team will be communicating these plans as soon as they are finalized.
We are working with our custodial staff in each building to bag the student belongings from each locker and the desks. By early June, each building principal will reach out with a date and the protocols for pick up, so that your child can come to the outside of the school and pick up his or her belongings and drop off any textbooks, library books, or technology that he or she was using. At this time, the plan does not include students coming into the building.
Grading
The third nine weeks grades are now available virtually in the SKYWARD Gradebook; hard copies of the third nine weeks grades will not be distributed so that students and staff have enough time to complete third nine weeks work and score it accurately. A final report card, with the third nine weeks included, will be generated at the end of the year and distributed to those families who have marked they would like a paper copy in SKYWARD.
You can access the third nine weeks grades virtually from the SKYWARD parent view or the SKYWARD student view. From the parent view, if you have multiple children on your account, the parent will need to select the child’s name at the top. On the menu on the left hand side, choose GRADEBOOK (this menu may not appear until you select the + sign). For grades K-2, if a box is left empty after the standard, it is because the teacher was unable to assess that standard during the third nine weeks before school closed.
If you need information on your SKYWARD user name or you need your password for SKYWARD reset, please reach out to the building secretary.
